The changing face of

Sodbury Lions

Photos show -  Ian Gott - Outgoing Lions President with Deborah Porter - New Lions President

The first lady in the 37 year history of the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club received the Presidential Chain of Office at the annual hand over dinner event held in the Charter Room of the Town Hall recently.

The outgoing President Ian Gott expressed his thanks to all fellow Lions for the hard work undertaken during his presidency that had seen the thousands of pounds raised during the year distributed to local charities and organisations.

The new President Lion Deborah Porter said she was delighted and privileged to have been elected as the first female Chipping Sodbury Lions Club President and hoped that others would follow in the future. She also expressed the need to expand the fund raising activities as more and more requests for help were being received but major expansion could only be achieved by an increase in the membership which was to be one of the main objectives of her Presidency.

As part of the evening’s activities the outgoing Management team handed over their badges of office to the incoming team and the Lion of the Year Shield was presented to Lion Brian Hardy by the outgoing President Ian Gott.
