Press Release April 2008 Event Mobility Charitable Trust

At a recent presentation event the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club gave a financial donation to another deserving charity. The charity presented with a cheque for £100 was the Event Mobility Charitable Trust based in Tewkesbury. David Taylor accepted the cheque on behalf of the charity from Lions Brian Fletcher, Brian Hardy and John Davis at the Shireway Community Centre in Yate where the Lions hold their meetings every second and fourth Thursdays in the month. The Event Mobility Trust is a charity that offers short term loans of powered scooters and wheelchairs to event organisers for the benefit of mobility impaired people who find the cost of purchasing their own out of reach. Such a service allows impaired people the freedom to attend venues holding county shows, equestrian events, antique fairs, golf tournaments, major flower shows and garden exhibitions where manual wheelchairs are of little practical use. David thanked the Lions for their generous donation and acknowledge the assistance given to Event Mobility by members of Lions Clubs, many of whom volunteer their time to help as carers and guides at events throughout the UK each year. The charity now supports some 69 events assisting over 4500 mobility impaired people to enjoy functions previously unavailable to them. The Chipping Sodbury Lions Club was pleased to be able to respond to the request from Event Mobility for financial support. |
