Press Release - 4th April 2008 Lions Club supports the Jessie May Trust

In total seven local charities, organisations and schools will benefit from their efforts. The first charity to receive a donation was the Jessie May Trust based in the Old School House on the Kingswood Foundation Estate, Kingswood. On 27th March Lions Brian Fletcher, Brian Hardy and John Davis visited the trust and handed over a cheque to Kate Buddery on behalf of the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club. Brian Hardy said, “we recognise the invaluable work the Trust undertakes in the community helping families during and after the most desperate period of their lives. We are pleased to support the Jessie May Trust that as a charity receives no statutory funding and relies on donations, grant making organisations, charitable trusts, the general public and their own fund raising events”. The money donated by the Lions Club of Chipping Sodbury will benefit The Jessie May Trust Precious Time Appeal, providing nursing care at home to local families caring for a terminally ill child. The Precious Time Appeal has been launched to enable The Jessie May Trust to provide more parents with vital support to care for their terminally ill child at home. The charity has already been able to provide more vital nursing care since the launch of the appeal last January, but more funds are desperately needed to help families not receiving support.
