And below Ria Warren - Fund Raising manager with Lion Dennis McIntyre and Brian HardyRia Warren the Cots for Tots Fund Raising manager recently received a cheque from the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club for £1500 at a presentation ceremony at the Bristol Childrens Hospital. The money was raised at a Pig Racing evening organised by the Lions Club. The organiser Lion Dennis McIntyre said it was a win, win situation as all attendee’s had a really fun evening and a significant amount of money was raised for a very worthy cause. The Cots for Tots Appeal aims to provide the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, part of the Bristol Children’s Hospital with improved equipment and facilities by raising funds for two additional cot spaces that will allow a further 100 plus babies per year to receive treatment as well as paying for the urgently needed refurbishment of the parents accommodation, breast feeding and shower rooms. The appeal is part of the ongoing Wallace and Gromit Grand Appeal. To date over £100,000 has been raised against the target of £150,000. Ria Warren stated that babies born in Bristol and the South West who require life saving surgery can be referred to the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit which is equipped to handle the extra specialist care babies who are sick and/or premature need. The £1500 donated so kindly by the Lions will contribute to this appeal; it really will make a great difference. Also in attendance at the presentation, which was the latest in a long line of donations made to local charities and organisations by the Chipping Sodbury Lions Club, were Lions Brian Hardy and John Davis.
